Gossip, Glam, and a Big Reveal: Inside Big Silly’s Birthday Bash!
*Stefon voice* “New York’s hottest nightclub is…The Big Silly Trivia Game’s One Year Birthday Party at Jean’s Downstairs”
If you saw a line outside Jean’s last week at 7pm and thought, ‘that's a bit early to be clubbing?’, you’re right – but it’s not too early to blast “I’m Coming Out” and play a game of pop-culture trivia dressed up like Samantha Jones. On Wednesday night, in between seasons of The Big Silly Trivia Game, we brought 100+ community members (aka trivia dolls) together to celebrate just over a year of Big Silly, and make a very exciting announcement.

The Venue:
My own Jean’s-downstairs-appearances usually come much later (or earlier in the AM, depends on how you look at it) but it extended itself beautifully as the backdrop for our one year celebration. Vampy, glitzy, with historic nightclub roots.
We had THE Kardashian Photobooth, a bubblegum-pink (or BST pink) step-and-repeat, and a glam touchup station to keep all our divas looking red-carpet-ready.

🍏 TikTok is chock full of interpretations of what ‘party 4 u’ feels like, and I cannot help but watch every single one.
⭐ Hayden Christiansen thirst traps are circulating thanks to the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, sparking a “Haydenaissance”.
Ok now back to the party.
Manifesting Our Future (With Proof!)
From the beginning of this game, I’ve shared that I want the world of Big Silly to feel like “Merv Griffin meets Carrie Bradshaw”, a balance between a classic nostalgic game show, with dashes of pop-cultural chaos a la Andy Cohen on WWHL, a little bit of RuPaul etc.
On Wednesday night, we made the announcement that we are officially a part of the Embassy Row family– founded by Michael Davies (EP of Jeopardy!) and responsible for our television favorites like Who Wants to be a Millionaire…and Watch What Happens Live! *screaming*.
To join this group of world-famous, utterly classic game and talk shows one year after our first episode (7 people on Zoom, including my mom) is a true pinch me moment.
I’ll never forget reading Kate Whalen’s Substack article last year, titled “Jeopardy Producers are Shaking in their Boots”, a charming, clear and colorful read on her experience playing an early game of Big Silly.
Little did we both know, that just under a year later we would join that very family. Now I’M SHAKING IN MY BOOTS! But on a stage…with a microphone…
Substack brought us together last year, and she joined us in NYC to celebrate the proof of her semi-psychic article. I love the internet!
