Today’s Gazette is short n’ sweet. 🍭🍭🍭
For those of us in New York I hope you’re enjoying my personal favorite stretch of the year *cigarette drag* late September. Light jackets, a resurgence of creativity, and the sparkly feeling that anything is possible from now until December.
But this year, September brought the end of a weekly ritual that millions locked in for all summer long– The Summer I Turned Pretty. Every Wednesday, we’d open up Amazon Prime with dreams of seeing Belly and Conrad quietly yearn for each other. I really loved it all— the weird muddy spray tans, the greedy use of Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift, and of course Belly’s inability to be honest with her emotions.
Whether you tuned in each week or not, there’s no question that TSITP is a cultural-phenomenon. Immediately after a new episode dropped, my FYP flooded with hilarious fan-edits, and group chats exploded with live-reactions of whatever ridiculousness transpired that week. So now that the series is wrapped, what do we do?
Yesterday, a member of the Big Silly community shared an incredibly detailed and sweet deep dive on what BST means to her, and she pointed out that The Big Silly Trivia Game has filled the Cousins-Beach-shaped-hole in her heart.
Big Silly Trivia is a Ritual
I like thinking of Big Silly Trivia as a ritual– an immersive, live experience that you can build into your lives each week. The time when you order your favorite Thai food, crack open a bottle of zero sulfite white wine, and curl up with your roommates/boyfriend/dog/situationship and take off into a glittering world where Timothée Chalamet is Mayor and the floor is bubblegum pink carpet.
So let’s call it destiny, that Big Silly came in just as our favorite young adult drama sashayed away (at least while we wait for the movie).
I want to be an anchor in your week, a ray of light and supplier of almost-crying-laughing on a Wednesday night.
